About our training and consulting services

Practical / technical / finance focus

We have a technical and quantitative finance focus.

Training has a workshop format: Participants perform tasks and exercises aimed to develop practical skills that will benefit them in their typical workday. Benefits are often related to increasing efficiencies and reducing operational risks.

Following are examples of the types of participants who attended our courses and the outcomes and benefits they obtained.

Course   Participant's work area / role   Outcome   Benefit
Spreadsheet Modelling for Finance   Settlements division in a securities firm   Now able to use and combine spreadsheet formulae to pick up errors / omissions / inconsistencies in settlements data.   Reduced operational risk.
Visual Basic for Finance   Finance manager in an Oil / Energy company   Automating a monthly roll-over process involving a set of large spreadsheets.   Faster monthly processing.
Spreadsheet Modelling for Finance   Analyst in corporate finance / investment banking   Able to do sensitivity analyses to double-check the robustness of a financial model.   Reduced model errors.
Visual Basic for Finance   Real estate group   Reduced size of spreadsheet from 30Mb to 4Mb by eliminating duplication and introducing automation.   Faster processing / smaller size / reduced inconsistencies.

Pre course and post course self assessment

Registrants on our courses are given a user name and password once their registration is finalised. Registrants can then use our online self assessment service to measure their skill sets in the courses they're registered on. [A free but reduced version of the self assessment service can be used without needing to log in.]

By doing both the pre and post course assessments registrants have an objective and scientific measure of the progress they have made in doing the course.

Phased exercises

We break the more complex course exercises into a number of smaller phases or steps. This makes the exercises more manageable.

With the more complex exercises we have a facility that lets participants "fast-forward" or "rewind" through steps. This gives the presenter and participants more flexibilty in allocating time to phases that need the most emphasis.

Take-aways

Participants receive a comprehensive course workbook and copy of the presenter's slides together with a CD containing the answers to all of the course exercises.
